Top Model. Zostań modelką, Cycle 1 (Polish for Top Model. Become a Model) is the first Cycle of an ongoing reality documentary based on Tyra Banks' America's Next Top Model that pits contestants from Poland against each other in a variety of competitions to determine who will win the title of the next Polish Top Model and a lucrative modeling contract with NEXT Model Managament as well as an appearance on the cover of the Polish issue of Glamour and a nationwide Max Factor campaign in hopes of a successful future in the modeling business.[1]

The competition is hosted by Polish born supermodel Joanna Krupa who serves as the lead judge alongside fashion designer Dawid Woliński, journalist Karolina Korwin-Piotrowska and photographer Marcin Tyszka.[2] It has also been confirmed that international topmodels Anja Rubik and Magdalena Mielcarz will make guest appearances and coaching the contestants in some episodes.[3]

Paulina Papierska, a 19-year-old woman from a little town named Zbąszynek won the competition. On the show she was criticized for her inability to speak English.[4]

Episode summaries

Episode 1

Joanna Krupa is put in the host position of her own country's version of the world famous "Top Model franchise". She is more than exited to finally find a supermodel, but she won't do it alone; she, Dawid Woliński, Karolina Korwin-Piotrowska and photographer Marcin Tyszka will scout the country in order to find Poland's very first top model. The plowing begins! Casting is in Sopot and Warsaw.

Episode 2

The second week of casting finally continues, and after the first week of casting, Poland's Next Top Model is more than ready to find a top model. Casting is Wrocław and Warsaw.

Episode 3

The third week of casting was the very last week of semi-finals, after the previous 2 weeks of casting, Poland's Next Top Model was eager to narrow down 50 finalists to only 13 which would officially start the competition. The third week's episode is based on a military theme. After Joanna's entrance, the girls are forced to change into army uniforms. They are later pushed to their limits in a series of intense physical tests. A number of girls are sent home, while the remaining ones get together and have a meal. Zuzanna starts saying quite negative things about Paulina Pszech's appearance such as the fact that she is trying to look like "Lady GaGa". After a group photoshoot, the final 50 is rounded up to 13. Each girl is called in a room to talk with Joanna to talk about their photo to decide each girl's fate, so Joanna and the judges picked 13 fresh faced beautiful girls while some are sent packing

Episode 4

After Episode 3, the final 13 where picked and rounded up and drove to their new Polish house in Warsaw. All of the girls seemed very impressed on where they would live, but Zuzanna was starting to clash with Anna. The following day, Anna woke up in the morning and felt all the drama was resolved, the final 13 girls rushed to their second location on the bus, it was a salon so it definitely meant makeovers, there, they met Legendary Polish Supermodel Anja Rubik. Marta went from long locks to a short blond do with some sidebangs, she began to embrace her make-over well [5] . Emilia had major problems with her makeover; as soon as she realized how much the hairdresser was going to cut off, she frustratedly walked out of the salon for a while and when she was ready, came back in again. After the make-overs, the girls drove over to see a special guest, Łukasz Jemioł, a very talented designer who has dressed Anja Rubik Herself. He explained to the girls, that they would all have to walk in his fashion show, but found out they would have to walk with "Venus Razors" bags in both hands, which is a very similar challenge to what "Americas Next Top Model" did in the 1st cycle on the fourth episode. Due to the runway being narrow compared to other runways, many girls slipped and tumbled when passing other girls by. Weronica was heavily criticised due to taking too long between changes. After the challenge, the girls met up with the editor-in-chief of GLAMOUR Poland, Anna Jurgas, who would give the winner a spread in GLAMOUR magazine, Paulina Po. The following day, the girls met up with their photographer Robert Wolański and he explained the girls would be doing a beauty shot with deadly animals and reptiles, each girl reacted with surprise. Katarzyna was praised with her performance with the snake, Anna was great with the tarantula and Emilia had the cockroaches with which she initially struggled. The following day, the final 14 girls faced their first panel to be narrowed down to 13. Paulina Ps got amazing praise due to continuing the shoot despite her fear of her insect, but it was Marta and Zuzanna who hit rock bottom in the bottom two. Marta was given another chance while Zuzanna was sent home.

Episode 5

After Zuzanna's elimination, 12 girls were left standing to compete for a contract with NEXT Models, MAX FACTOR cosmetics & a cover on GLAMOUR's Polish edition. A physical test of grace proves too hard for some, a gloomy yet gruesome photoshoot with blood pushes some girls' limits and one has to handle a medical dilemma.
